Chain of Custody certification enhances green printing.

In February, 2008, Beacon Printing received dual certification in the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI) programs. We received these certifications through successful completion of a chain of custody audit.

Chain of custody is the path taken by raw materials harvested from FSC/SFI certified sources through processing, manufacturing, distribution, and printing until it is a final product ready for sale to the end customer.

Our dual certifications give you peace of mind in knowing that the paper you buy from us, as part of your printed job, has come from well-managed forests, controlled sources and recycled wood or fiber, which will halt the harmful deforestation that is happening around the world. FSC and SFI certification puts us in the supply chain, starting at the managed forest and ending with you, our customer, ensuring that the papers used are from sustainable resources.

We always comply with applicable environmental and worker safety laws and regulations. Compliance will continue to be a key ingredient in the training, performance reviews and incentives of all employees.  

RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
We enforce a stringent recycling program. Beacon Printing is proud to encourage recycling in every aspect of our company. We not only recycle paper as a standard practice but go several steps further and recycle all of our aluminum, plastics, glass and cardboard. just to name a few. As an incentive for employees to recycle, Beacon Printing puts and income generated through recycling into a company profit sharing plan.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
We always seek opportunities to improve our environmental performance. An example of one recent improvement is using lasers for imaging direct to plate. This eliminates the chemicals required for developing film, which we no longer use. We eliminate as many chemicals in house as possible and encourage environmentally safe cleaners.
